Original dark navy heavily blindstamped cloth; ornate gilt spine titles and devices; 471pp + [1pp advert unnumbered]. Decorative woodcuts chapter and story headings. Light bumping at extremities. Trivial rubbing to spine ends. Binding fragile in two places including front hinge; may need professional repair. An ex-lending library copy with stamps and library label to front endpapers, number to spine and one or two stamps within text.

Includes 5 stories by the author, all very famous, including “Carmilla”, “Green Tea” and “The Familiar”. Undoubtedly Le Fanu’s strongest and eagerly sought-after original collection, authored at the height of his powers. Very scarce in any condition.
